“Annoyed at the site of Carlos Delgado”

"If I’m hitting .230 in June, I’ll even stand for the Canadian National Anthem."

In one of my earlier posts, I talked about being excited for the upcoming Mets season, but at the same time being skeptical and critical of manger, Willie Randolph.

Let me make it official now.  Carlos Delgado annoys me more than Willie.  Last season, it seemed like Delgado would come to bat and it would already be an 0-2 count.  He’d then proceed to swing wildly at a fastball near his eyes, about 5 minutes too late.

I’m trying to wipe the slate clean, and give Delgado a fresh start for the 2008 season, but when I already hear reports on the radio that Carlos looks terrible at the plate, I’m preparing myself for a season of yelling.

Maybe Delgado doesn’t suck though.  He could just be old.  Look at the gray hairs in his goatee. Look at where he’s injured — his hip?  Sounds like an old man injury to me.  Delgado has already been talking during spring training about his future after baseball as being an entrepreneur or whatever.

Earier today, Carlos got hit with a broken bat, and needed a few stitches on his hand.  He’s a mess.

Hopefully, he’ll shock us all and play well.

  1. Sadly, we know he won’t give us that ’shock’ we as Met fans want. He’s hitting .170 this spring. He doesn’t have the bad speed back that he lost last year, and with a hip impingement that will never naturally heal, we’re in for bad Delgado Season Number 2. He’s done. Pray Willie has a quick hook and Omar has an idea on how to replace him in the lineup, ASAP.

    Reyes
    Castillo
    Wright
    Beltran
    Delgado
    Church
    Pagan
    Schneider

That’s their probable opening day lineup. Sooner than later Delgado will be batting 6th or 7th. Mark my words!

    With sadness,
    James
